Prime Minister

A Big role in government

The UK PM has promised leadership hopeful Andy Burnham 'a big role' in government.

Presumably he means Prime Minister.

But Burnham has to win the Makerfield by-election first and that is by no means certain.

Why Labour would win this election based on their performance to date and Starmer's antics is anyones' guess.

Stranger things have happened especially given that the 'R' parties are in a bit of disarray fighting with each other.

Update: 19/06/2026

Burnham has won the by-election comfortably, some claim on the back of his 'personal brand'.

Now we can expect a real leadership challenge to Starmer.

What is ridiculous about this whole affair is that we may end up with yet another Prime Minister of the UK who was not elected by the country as a whole but, in this case, by a tiny number of people (24,927) from Manchester.

Surely this isn't democracy?
