Sky News reports:
Warfare has evolved - companies can now control how a country fights
Our defence and security editor Deborah Haynes says the Ukraine-Starlink row forms part of a wider modern military trend.
"It just points to the evolution of warfare, the fact that now, it is companies that can control how a country fights.
"That should be a wake-up call for everybody."
The controversy over the USA (i.e. Musk/Trump) restricting access to Starlink shows that relying on civilian infrastructure for military purposes should be illegal.
What it does is blur the line.
Starlink is being used as a proxy weapon of war against Russians to help to kill them and that makes it a military asset. A far more improtant one than Wildberries warehouses or Yandex data centers.
Under normal circumstances, the state being impacted would do its best to destroy systems that threaten it and kill its people.
But in this case Russia has not, and for many reasons, but if Starlink was owned and operated by Ukraine then its takedown would have been a priority at the beginning of the conflict.
The MSM is reluctant to use the term 'weaponised' because only Russia 'weaponises' things (e.g. energy) but this is exactly what is happening as Musk/Trump fiddle with the Starlink 'spigot' and everyone is acting surprised and talking about 'betrayal'.
Wake up.
