Honest Discussion aka Dad's Army (2)

The latest dishonest mantra

LBC reports:

Burnham calls for 'honest discussion' about free movement between UK and EU

The prime minister said migration had "changed" since Brexit as he called for an "evidence based discussion" about free movement

Apparently this new mantra is based on the fact that the Mayor of Manchester's dad once worked in Germany:

Mr Burnham gave the example of his father Roy, who moved to work (sic) Germany in the 1990s.

Burnham appears to believe that 'Dad appeal' is the answer to everything. Who does he think he's kidding?

This seems to be yet another attempt to deflect attention on illegal immigration by conflating it somehow with EU freedom of movement, which is not the same thing at all.

The evidence is that illegal migrants come to the UK by abusing EU freedom of movement to get to the west coast of France and this is why freedom of movement is a problem for the UK - which is not in the EU.

If there was no freedom of movement, most of them would simply be stuck in their first point of entry country, such as Greece or Italy.

This problem is quite different from lots of young people coming to the UK to work (from the EU - not Afghanistan) or Andy's dad going to Germany to work Auf Weidersehen Pet style when the UK was in the EU.

But they'll try anything dishonest to overturn the Brexit referendum.

It's rather amusing that the call is for an 'honest discussion' implying that discussions are usually dishonest - such as those trying to get the UK back into the EU.
