Barmy Baltic scheme for UK prisoners

Apparently Estonia's low crime rate means their prisons are half empty, so the UK is considering sending overspill prisoners to the Baltic state to serve out their sentences using a mothballed fleet of Boeing 737-Max aircraft to transport them to and from Estonia.

According to Sky News: Liisa Pakosta, the Estonian justice minister, told The Daily Telegraph: "The UK and Estonia have a history of successful international co-operation, and such a partnership would create further opportunities to benefit and learn from each other."

A spokesperson explained:

Due to the war in Ukraine, the Solovki option we were originally pursuing with Russia had to be discarded so the nearby Baltic states are definitely an option.

The Baltic capitals are well-known destinations for stag/hen dos so not only can UK prisoners enjoy some Estonian porridge, their families can also enjoy a good old knees-up on their visits. Bonus!
