Behavioural Drift

We are on the way to the abyss

As Lou Mannheim (Hal Holbrook) memorably said in Wall Street (1987):

Man looks in the abyss, there's nothing staring back at him. At that moment, man finds his character. And that is what keeps him out of the abyss.

Today we are experiencing what appears to be an unstoppable behavioural drift that in turn will drop us all into the abyss.

A man breaks the nose of a female police officer during an altercation at Manchester airport that results in a fellow officer kicking him in the head.

An Algerian male boxer breaks the nose of an Italian female boxer after less than a minute of an Olympics 2024 bout.

Prepare for the abyss people.
