Sky News reports:
Iceland rejects government proposal to resume EU membership talks
Iceland's government previously described the membership plan as a "now or never" moment, with campaigners divided over security issues and fishing.
Nigel Farage is happy:
Congratulations to Iceland on voting to keep their independence.
Let's see if the EU manages to overturn this one:
The government said its membership plan was a "now or never" moment, and the prime minister told voters in August that a "no" would settle all EU speculation.
Joining the EU would decimate Iceland's fishing industry (as it did in the UK) and even if Trump annexes Greenland what is the EU going to do about it? Nothing.
Iceland is largely descended from Vikings who fled from overbearing Royal control in Norway so they surely don't want that to return in the form of Queen Ursula.
