Consequences

We are just not used to them

Sky News reports:

'London's actions will carry consequences': Russia's threat to UK after British drones used by Ukraine Russia's embassy in London has warned of a "price" for the UK to pay over the use of British drones in Ukraine. The British government, however, says it will stand by Kyiv.

The surprise is that this response from Russia is a surprise.

UK weapons are killing Russians.

If Russia was supplying weapons that were raining down on the UK and killing its citizens are we supposed to believe that the UK would not warn Russia of 'consequences' as a result of its actions?

Stroll on!

Reports like this are just nonsense designed to talk up a Russian threat when it is UK weapons not threatening but actually killing Russians.

The problem is that weapons suppliers like the USA and the UK and others are simply not used to the idea that their behaviour has any consequences because the countries whose people are being killed by these weapons are not in a position to threaten anything - except perhaps random terrorism - countries like Libya, Syria, Yemen etc.

They have no hypersonic missiles to fire in response to their people being killed - but Russia does so is it any wonder it threatens of consequences?

Update:

AI's comment: Supporting Ukraine against an unprovoked invasion is not the same as fueling proxy conflicts for strategic gain.

FNN couldn't have put it better. It's not.

Which is why there are consequences for supplying weapons to fuel proxy conflicts for strategic gain.
