AI Marketing

We are but the crumbs on the table

Caitlin Johnstone reports on the sales pitch for AI:

You are not receiving the real sales pitch for AI, because the real sales pitch would not appeal to your sensibilities. The real sales pitch for AI isn’t “Hey check out this product, it makes some web searches slightly easier and it can maybe write your emails for you.” The real sales pitch for AI is “This product allows you to surveil the entire population of your country. It can be built into autonomous surveillance drones and killing machines. It can allow you to monitor and control every aspect of your society. It can reverse the decentralization of information brought on by the internet age. It can take away the collective bargaining power of workers and give you the skilled services your company requires. It can nullify strikes, civil disobedience, and even full-scale revolutions, and lock humanity into your capitalist dystopia forever.”

It's like the old sales pitch for 'a computer on every desktop' - it wasn't really about your personal desktop (although that was important too) it was really about a computer on every corporate desktop.

Whenever FNN or you uses AI for some rinky-dink purpose like generating an image or copy-editing a text our role is simply one of training.

The training feeds into the real purpose such as building 'autonomous surveillance drones and killing machines'.

The reality is that anyone using AI for any kind of purpose is complicit in contributing to the real purpose which is to help train AI models for use by the military-industrial complex.

It's quite clear that as the 'training' scales up with the increased public use of AI, the shorter the timeframe to when AI's killing machines will kill us all.

It's inevitable.

Now we just have to live with it - just like everyone lives with the knowledge that they personally will die.

But now it's about the impending mortality of the the human race, not just individual humans.
