CNBC reports:
President Donald Trump said Friday that Russia will supply more than 4 million tons of diesel to the global market under a deal he struck with President Vladimir Putin during a phone call.
Russia will immediately supply more than 300,000 tons of diesel, followed by 500,000 tons in November, and 1 million tons immediately thereafter, Trump said in a post on Truth Social. Moscow will then deliver another 3 million tons of diesel based on the condition of Russia’s refineries, Trump said.
The Treasury Department temporarily waived sanctions on Russian diesel through April 2027 under a general license issued Friday.
Naturally Zelensky is not happy, branding the action 'weak' and 'not fair and not honest'.
Currently Ukraine is sending up more 'offensive' weather balloons over Russia as supplies of other munitions dwindle.
But where the US leads, undoubtedly the EU will follow.
This makes a mockery of that canard that Russia weaponised energy against Europe at the start of the Ukraine conflict.
Maybe it's not so bad to be a gas-station masquerading as a country as some (t)wit once said about Russia.
Once again, Trump has shown that transactional deal-making is simply in his DNA so the world better get used to it.
Update 12/10/26:
Trump claimed an energy ceasefire had been agreed and then Ukraine claimed that Russia had hit one of their energy facilities after previously claiming that the ceasefire was 'news to them'.
