Tasia Fortune: Hanging of black woman in tree 'staged' after she was killed in drug dispute, US police say
Tasia Fortune, 29, was already dead before her body was hanged from a tree behind an abandoned home in Mississippi, investigators believe.
If this is in fact true then this was done by some seriously sick individuals who knew exactly what they were doing and the echoes from the past that it would dredge up.
It's the kind of thing that could trigger riots in the past. Let's hope that is not the case today.
Ms Fortune's mother Christy Spivey has said her daughter, who had four children, struggled with homelessness in recent years.
The main takeaway from this unfortunate woman's tragic death is simple: Stay away from drugs.
But also that the homelessness problem in the USA has tragic consequences and it's time the USA applied some innovation to the problem.
Unfortunately solving the homelessness crisis does not seem to be a money-spinner and until it is, it looks like nothing will be done.
Whereas tiny minorities such as trans-people get all the attention and funding, people with the identity of 'marginals' like Ms. Fortune are less fortunate.
What they need is not gender-transition but life-transition to a decent life.
