Consequences

If AI makes mistakes

Caitlin Johnstone reports:

A recent Pentagon report has officially concluded that an over-reliance on Palantir’s AI-powered command-and-control system Maven contributed to the bombing of a school in Minab which killed 120 children attending classes on the first day of the US-Israeli war with Iran.

Which raises the question: who is actually responsible for this war crime?

The US government or Palantir or both?

If law-enforcement use of AI defines a suspect - mistakenly - as a criminal and he is killed during an arrest then who is responsible?

The officer who shot him or the AI company that supplied the faulty AI that they trained?

Think on't as Councillor Duxbury would say.
