Sky News reports:

Politics latest: French authorities respond after warship accused of 'firing shots' near senior Tory

Senior Tory Chris Philp has suggested a French warship was trying to "intimidate" him by firing "live rounds" while he was on a boat in the English Channel.

While the MSM go yammering on about the Russian 'threat' to the UK, seizing on all sorts of bizarre incidents in the English channel to prove their point, now we have another one - only it's the French this time.

The biggest threat to UK society and culture is not Russia, it is ongoing illegal immigration from France in small boats.

But it suits the MSM to go on about the Russian threat while continuing to ignore the real threat, mainly because no-one can seem to do anything about it, no matter how much money is thrown at the problem - much of it to France to try to stem the tide.

Now shadow defence secretary James Cartlidge has called on his government counterpart to condemn the French.

He said: "This is pretty shocking stuff from the French Navy. My shadow cabinet colleague Chris Philp is a British politician, not the navy of a hostile state.

Still at least Philp's boat was not stopped by Israel as then he might have experienced some real intimidation like those on the humanitarian-aid convoys to Gaza. That proved to be truly 'shocking stuff' although there wasn't much condemnation from the UK about that. Out of sight, out of mind.

And it depends on what you mean by a 'hostile state'.

One whose navy pussyfoots around in the English channel and whose antics do little more than provoke retired generals in Wiltshire to write to The Times or one that allows hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants to exit their country and flood into the UK causing genuine social unrest.

Go figure.
