Sky News reports:

UK waters down Russian oil sanctions amid jet fuel crisis brought on by Strait of Hormuz closure

The move follows a US rollback, which allows Indian refiners to buy oil from the sanctioned country at sea.

Officials have issued a licence, which comes into force on Wednesday, allowing the import of such oil products "indefinitely" - although it will be reviewed periodically by the business secretary.

Phew!

FNN bets the government breathed a sigh of relief that they had a valid excuse to crawl back to Russia for their oil before the UK ran out.

Oh we get it. The UK is buying from India not Russia. So that's all right then.

Sometimes it's good to be a gas station masquerading as a country - like the USA is today with its abundance of fracked oil.

What's next - Russian athletes allowed back into the Olympics, Russia back in the Eurovision song contest, Russian music back on the programme or are those a step too far on the primrose path to the everlasting bonfire of the vanities?

Interesting?
