The Dissident reports:
EU States Continue To Silence Pro-Peace Voices.
Latvia Cracks Down On Journalist Leonid Ragozin For Anti-War Advocacy.
As journalist Branko Marcetic noted, “In other words, he has done reporting, voiced opinions, and highlighted information that are politically inconvenient for a hawkish Latvian elite”.
There's something very worrying about these kinds of actions since the ability to voice and debate different perspectives on events is a hallmark of democracy and actions like this simply undermine it.
Latvia might have some justification if it was at war with Russia but it is not.
Neither is the EU nor the UK or at least they say they are not while supplying weapons to kill Russians.
So all this does is confirm that the proxy war does in fact exist and therefore anything vaguely positive about the 'enemy' must be silenced.
Latvia have clearly learned the lessons from their experience of occupation under Stalin.
Meanwhile Sky News reports:
Two Latvian nationals arrested on suspicion of trespassing at RAF base
Ministry of Defence Police (MDP) on patrols at RAF Molesworth, Cambridgeshire, found an abandoned vehicle before a breach of the site's fence was discovered. The base is home to US intelligence operations for Europe and Africa, plus a NATO intelligence HQ in the UK.
On the basis of Latvia's actions at home against a non-criminal journalist, the UK should declare these criminals persona non grata and deport them.
