Terrotorial Integrity

Means nothing

Sky News reports:

Ceuta latest: 60,000 migrants breach border and enter Spanish enclave from Morocco in 24 hours

At least 43 people have died during an attempt to cross into the tiny Spanish enclave of Ceuta, in North Africa. Around 60,000 migrants are estimated to have entered, prompting Spain to deploy its military to restore order.

This is what happens when you announce 'amnesties' for illegal migrants already in your country.

Others, put the blame on the government's decision earlier this year to give residency and work permits to hundreds of thousands of migrants already living in Spain without permission.

Italy responded robustly:

Italian Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni then threatened to suspend her country's open-border Schengen agreement with Spain "to defend our borders and ensure the safety of our citizens," even though Italy does not share a border with Spain and is also an entry point for tens of thousands of migrants crossing the Mediterranean each year.

France will also strengthen border checks with Spain due to the crisis, according to French interior minister Laurent Nunez.

It hardly matters that many prospective migrants in Cueta have left voluntarily due to the 'mayhem' they encountered.

It's clear that territorial integrity means nothing any more and the biggest threat to the EU is not Russia but migrant surges that threaten to overwhelm societies and force governments to take drastic measures to mitigate the situation as they are simply unable to deport all these people.

The people smugglers have the EU (and UK) over a barrel and they know it.
