Two-Tier Sentencing

Sextortion vs. trafficking, rape and abuse

Sky News reports:

Man jailed for 16 years in 'sextortion' case as police appeal for victims

Waleed Saeed targeted young men from South Asian and Muslim backgrounds, believing they would be less likely to contact police.

Saeed got 16 years for his 'sextortion' on Snapchat and Grindr so how does that compare with the sentences handed down to the despicable grooming gang members?

Strangely, as Factually reports:

https://factually.co/fact-checks/justice/major-uk-grooming-gang-prosecutions-2010-2024-conviction-counts-4abf50

Which major UK grooming gang prosecutions occurred 2010–2024 and what were conviction counts?

Available sources do not provide a single authoritative, source‑verified list of every “major” prosecution from 2010–2024 with standardized conviction counts.

That alone indicates how seriously this is taken by the authorities.

What is also notable is the average length of sentences for those that have been convicted, for example:

Local press and summaries give concrete sentencing figures for these cases—examples include 18 men in Halifax given a combined total of “over 175 years” [2] and Rochdale convictions totaling 432 years across 42 men as of January 2024 reporting [1

That's an average sentence of just under 10 years in Halifax and just over 10 years in Rochdale.

But why are the sentences so much less for the trafficking, rape and abuse of vulnerable white girls than 'catfishing' gay Asian men online?

We'll leave you to figure that out.

Al-Jazeera did report average sentences of 12 years (35 years for the ringleader) for 7 men in a 2025 case.

https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2025/10/2/uk-court-convicts-7-men-for-grooming-systematic-abuse-of-teens

This is a very difficult and emotive area.

For example, this article by The Conversation seems to conflate child abuse (usually behind closed doors at home) with grooming gangs (trafficking, rape and abuse) seemingly to make the point that 'white men' are responsible for the most sexual abuse in Britain.

https://theconversation.com/child-sexual-abuse-what-the-data-tells-us-about-perpetrators-and-victims-203581

But they are different thing.

Yes they are both abuse but there is a difference between individual children being abused by their own family or 'trusted' friends or celebrities and anyone being abused by gangs of predatory men whether they are children or not.

While addressing the issue of grooming gangs is important, portraying the “stamping out” of such gangs as the solution to child sexual abuse in the UK obscures what abuse looks like, where it is perpetrated and by who.

The data shows that child sexual abuse happens not just in northern cities in the back of taxi cabs, but in family homes of all ethnic groups, of all classes and income brackets and to boys and girls from babies to adolescents.

Who is saying that 'stamping out' gangs stamps out child sexual abuse?

Stamping out gangs of predatory men helps to stamp out the kind of industrial scale rape and abuse exemplified by the grooming gangs that largely consist of predatory men.

It is not a panacea for all child abuse.

The Asian grooming gangs are different because they are not just about misogyny, there is clear religious and cultural racism in play (kaffir whores and white sluts) that adds an extra dimension to the abuse.

No different from genuine anti-semitism that is currently the focus of much outcry - not buried under the carpet.
