This blog is about my Moviewriter app suite and the use of AI generally for coding.
I am an amateur coder, by which I mean I can build websites with a database backend that work but the code is crap.
I use HTML, PHP and a MySQL back-end database but other coding languages, even Javascript and Python, are mostly a mystery to me.
What I have found with AI coding is that AI can build in hours what used to take me days or even weeks or I had to pay someone else to do.
There are many AI coding agents out there. I happen to use Claude but there are undoubtedly others just as good or better.
I am on a Max subscription at £90 per month.
That may seem a lot to some people, especially if you have a 'but can't you do it for free' mindset.
But let's say I am cranking out 10 apps a month - that's £9 an app!
Even developing world 'gig' coders on Fiverr or similar sites can't get anywhere near that (without the help of AI of course).
I don't let AI do it all for me - I do have to specify and test and maintain my apps via the prompts and at least have some clue about what it is doing.
If you have no clue about coding then probably you will have no idea about what has been produced for you in a just few minutes.
But if you do then you will know that what is being done is little short of amazing compared to how you could do this only a few years ago.
Piece of advice: this is probably not a great time to decide to learn to code as within 5 years you will be redundant - unless you turn out to be a coding superstar that is.
