New NHS Number for Wales

666

The NHS in Wales is to start a new 666 service to handle calls that are not suitable for either the 111 or 999 numbers after it was revealed by Sky News:

...that the service had 414,149 calls last year and of those, 68,416 were not a life-or-death emergency.

That's an average of 188 calls a day which has prompted the trust to remind people only to dial 999 if someone is seriously ill or injured.

Here are some typical calls and how they will be handled by the 666 service:

---

Caller: My washing machine has sprung a leak, boyo.

666 Operator: You shouldn't be growing leeks in your washing machine you div!

---

Caller: Look you, My sheep's legs won't fit into my wellies

666 Operator: Buy bigger wellies then!

---

Caller: I've no coal left for my fire so its baltic in the front room.

666 Operator: Well put a wind turbine in your garden you NIMBY!
