From Layby to Fly

Airport drop off charges cause chaos on M25

The implementation of increasingly expensive drop-off charges at major UK airports is causing chaos on motorways close to the these airports as travellers are dropped off at nearby laybys to hitch to the terminal.

The laybys on the M25 near Heathrow are particularly bad and a fracas broke out yesterday as travellers fought over cardboard destination signs to hold up to attract a pick-up.

helpfully, Amazon is now selling purpose built dropoff signs with clear directions such as: Take me to T5.

A spokesperson for the UK's Civil Aviation Authority told FNN:

Given the lines to check-in we recommend that people reconsider travelling anywhere, or at least check in online and travel with no luggage at all. Drop off charges mean that we can export our congestion at the terminals to somewhere else and as no-one uses motorway laybys this seems like a good solution.

Our other suggestion is that you fly to our international airports from another regional airport and then transit to your overseas flight to avoid drop-off charges. Simples!
