Corsets are Back

Bridgerton prompts the return of corsets.

The WSJ has reported that corsets are back, prompted by the period drama Bridgerton and its steamy bodice-ripping regency romances.

But the new corsets are not just fashion accessories to be worn over an outfit while shopping or having lunch, they are also providing a new kind of body armor.

Along with the leading fashion brands like Alexander McQueen, firearm brands such as Smith & Wesson in the US and Kalishnikov in Russia are set to release full-torso corsets with a kevlar layer and titanium 'boning' to protect the wearer. They are designed to absorb a full clip from a Glock, which is handy if you happen to be stopped by police in your US neighbourhood and try to make a run for it.

FNN expects new body-armor corsets to become the latest in peaceful protest-chic along with pepper spray, molotovs and assault rifles.
