The post discusses Trump in the context of Bounded Realism and assumes that the USA is in a Constraint Deferral Cycle.
Most commentary on Trump begins with Trump. Weinstein begins elsewhere. His first and most fundamental claim is that the international order Trump is disrupting was already failing long before Trump arrived.
It is the post WW2 international order dominated by the USA that was the real disruption.
This disruption is now coming to an end and Trump is merely responding to that endgame, acting like the robot head of Ash in Alien (1979) after it is removed from its body and flailing about in its death throes.
The whole post is well-worth reading and The Honest Trap concludes by saying:
What Weinstein is diagnosing, in Bounded Realism terms, is a Constraint Deferral Cycle in its late stages: a system that has accumulated unresolved structural contradictions across decades, now encountering a high-variance agent whose intervention could either force resolution or accelerate collapse, under conditions where the institutional substrate required for either outcome has been significantly degraded.
