Sky News reports:

UK's 'cast iron support for Ukraine will endure', Starmer to say - as he visits Kyiv for final summit

The outgoing UK PM was in Ukraine to assure Zelensky of the UK's 'unwavering' support and to accept an award.

At the start of the news conference, Zelenskyy awarded Starmer the Order of Freedom honour, which is the highest award for a foreign person in Ukraine. He shook hands with the Ukrainian leader and said that the award was "completely unexpected" and "very meaningful".

This is a similar award to those being returned by Poland in protest against Zelensky's celebration of WW2 Ukrainian Nazis who murdered upwards of 100,000 Poles (and others).

But the UK PM is quite happy to accept his Ukrainian award along with the Legion d'honneur from France.

Sir Keir Starmer has become the first serving UK prime minister to be awarded France's top honour, the Legion d'honneur.

He received the award at the end of a meeting of the so-called Coalition of the Willing - the group of countries Sir Keir and French President Emmanuel Macron helped set up to help Ukraine in the wake of Russia's full-scale invasion of 2022.

This mutual backslapping is rather sickening given that Starmer has been booted out in the UK for doing a terrible job and squandering his landslide victory at the polls.

But none of his coalition pals care about that especially as they are also doing a terrible job in their own countries.

So what's next?

A European Diversity Award from the EU and an Iron Cross (with oak leaves) from the Fourth Reich?

It's appropriate that Starmer is talking about 'cast-iron support' for Ukraine given that the Mayor of Manchester is threatening to take Britain back to the glorious 70s by re-nationalising the steel industry.

Perhaps he will also re-introduce the Austin Maxi, pardon Gary Glitter and cycle to work on his chopper bike.

Oh and rename Chicken Kyivs back to Chicken Kievs.

But the good news is that if the railways are also re-nationalized then you can get on the train going up to Newcastle and pretend you are Jack Carter from the movie Get Carter (1971) while listening to the memorable soundtrack on headphones as you head north.
