The Daily Mail reports:
European fury after Finland and Norway's leaders hold direct talks with Putin about ending Ukraine war
The fury is because Stubb and Store acted unilaterally and now other EU leaders will be vying to get in next.
Store stressed that he and Finland's President Alexander Stubb had only spoken with Putin on behalf of their own countries.
The call was 'frank and substantive', Stubb said, explaining that the war's outcome will 'have a direct impact on our and the broader European security'.
To most people, direct diplomacy is just common sense but of course we are talking about the devil here - Putin, the madman, ex KGB spook and Russian 'bring back the USSR' imperialist who is a direct threat to Europe and even the UK. All of which is nonsense.
Once the Ukraine war is over one would think that the last thing Putin wants is another war as it's doubtful that the Russian public will stand for it.
Sure it's a major crack in the united front against Russia - the coalition of the wilting etc - but does the EU think it can continue to fund Ukraine and do without cheap Russian energy forever while France burns and Germany fuels the rise of the right-wing?
Stroll on!
