If anyone was deluded enough to believe the Ukraine war is about democracy and not simply a proxy war against Russia to bring it to its knees and finish them off as a Great Power, then the G7 June 17th statement will finally kill that delusion:
To support and accelerate this new momentum, we agree to increase the delivery of air defence capacities, additional systems and interceptors, and long-range capabilities. We are also ready to consider extending to Ukraine the benefit of licenses to allow for an increase in Ukraine’s military production.
So nothing can be clearer. It's a serious proxy war that the G7 is running here.
And we are teetering on the brink of a real war as the G7 has fully bought into the false narrative that Russia (i.e. Putin) wants to invade and conquer Europe to satisfy his whacko 'imperial' ambitions.
They also believe that the Russian SMO was a 'full-scale' invasion of Ukraine when it clearly was not.
There were simply not enough Russian troops involved - even the Ukrainian military understood this at the time.

The SMO was clearly originally a limited operation to create a buffer zone in eastern Ukraine and to support Russian-speaking Ukrainians who were being persecuted by the Ukranian state (as documented by Benoît Paré and Jacques Baud in their books and summarized by https://strategic-culture.su/news/2025/09/19/war-has-never-been-what-it-seems-the-testimony-of-benoit-pare/) because they did not support the result of the Maidan coup that overthrew the government.
So the question is where will this 'accelerated' momentum for the Ukraine war from the G7 lead to?
As attacks on Russia from Ukraine, guided and supplied by NATO, continue to increase then how long can this go on before it triggers a wider conflict?
Presumably this is what the G7 wants by its actions. There simply can be no other explanation.

In the Vietnam war, unverifiable body count numbers were used as simply a propaganda tool to persuade the American people that the USA was winning a war that they eventually lost.
