Beware of the event horizon

Caitlin Johnstone concludes her post on the open letter to The Guardian as follows:

The western empire therefore makes the world a crueler and more abusive place not only by its direct acts of cruelty and abuse, but by the way it forces its targets to choose between (A) annihilation and (B) using extreme amounts of force to retain their sovereignty. The empire we live under is responsible for the vast majority of the dysfunction and misery in our world, and yet you as a westerner want to spend your time yelling at Iran? Fuck off, man.

Just stop meddling in other people's affairs - that's the UN's job, if it has a job - and pay close attention to what is actually going on in your own country before trying to regime change others to suck them into your orbit.

Actually, the USA has become like a black hole, sucking in whatever country it can, using whatever means it can, and once you have passed the 'event horizon' (like the Maidan in Ukraine) you are pretty much doomed.

Now even neighbouring Canada, Cuba and Greenland are steadily approaching the same event horizon while Venezuela teeters right on the edge.

Everybody seems to like McDonalds and Barbies and Hollywood movies but that does not mean that everybody wants to be like America - they have their own cultures.

They may not be the best but they are theirs.
