The UK government has appealed for calm after yet another stabbing, this time in Northern Ireland.
But the problem is that staying calm doesn't seem to get anything done because the government does not listen.
There's plenty of hand-wringing and 'horrifics' but no firm announcement of what is going to be done.
Just one stabbing after another.
At some point some people are going to say 'enough is enough' and do something about this themselves.
Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch is at least coming up with a reality check as Sky News reports:
Kemi Badenoch admits some people will feel "uncomfortable" with the fact more black boys would be searched if the Tories tripled stop and search.
But she says she does not believe in quotas and says the truth is that when black boys are searched, more knives are found.
"So we can't leave people to carry knives because we think that we've searched enough people for today because that means someone else's life gets lost," she says.
She says the people who tell her more than anyone that they want to increase stop and search is the mothers of black boys who have been killed by their peers.
"I want to save those lives. I want to save the people who are most at risk, whatever their background," she adds.
"And if that means doing some tough stuff, then I'm going to do some tough stuff. I'm not going to run away from an outcry and allow other people's children to be killed, just so I can have a quiet life."
One of the people who might feel 'uncomfortable' about this viewpoint is knife crime activist and national treasure Sir Idris Elba:
https://www.radiotimes.com/tv/documentaries/idris-elba-knife-crime-problem-newsupdate/
"Proportionally, you're seeing Black and brown kids in knife-related incidences because the areas where Black and brown people live are usually the same areas where there's poverty and all sorts of restrictions on budgets, but it isn't largely just a Black and brown problem. In fact, it's the opposite."
Elba added that it's "important" for people not to be swayed by the misinformation.
"We need to stop thinking about this as a culturally relevant thing and start to look at it as like COVID, [it] can affect everybody," he told RadioTimes.com and other press.
Blimey!
Knife crime is not a 'Black and brown problem' but some kind of gain-of-function virus that escaped from a biolab that presumably big pharma can cure if we throw enough money at it. Who would have guessed?
Even Michael Winner couldn't have come up with that one.

Update 10/06/2026: Violence from 'right-wing thugs' has flared up in Belfast and sectarian divisions have opened up again rendering some unfortunate people homeless. But this is what you get when you simply ignore people's feelings about immigration and migrant crime. This government is tone-deaf and so afraid of pandering to Reform that they are powerless to do anything to resolve an issue that threatens to break up the UK. But does that really matter when you have voters in the Makerfield by-election claim that Britain is nothing more than a 'toilet'? It's probably true that may people who might vote reform do not really want to vote Reform but what choice do they have?
