Caitlin Johnstone reports on Today in Dystopia.
It's sobering reading.
The EU is criminalising the reporting of videos and content from sources it does not like e.g RT.
The UK is considering laws to force Youtube to prioritize 'authoritative' content sources e.g. the BBC.
Australia wants to make sure that 'favoured users' are not subjected to commenting on their content.
After complaining about social media platforms use of algorithms to promote content, the EU now wants to control it themselves. After sanctioning individuals - such as Jaques Baud - the EU now wants to sanction a whole class of content providers. Next it will be everybody.
After forcing people in the UK to buy a 'license' to use a TV to view certain channels, the UK is moving towards making sure the same channels are prioritized online.
In Australia, hate speech has simply become anything the government does not like and so it needs to be legislated against.
FNN can see where this is all going: licensing.
The next step is to require anyone posting content on the internet to be a 'licensed' content provider so that content providing can be fully controlled by the 'licensing authority'.
Essentially, the western MSM continues to portray Russia and China as 'free speech' villians while respective governments stealthily and steadily go about imposing free speech constraints of their own to play catch up.
Dystopia indeed.
