Fuel2You

Or to fuel to conspiracy theories

The Daily Mail has gone full-blown conspiracy theorist over the vans used by the alleged Iranian-backed 'terrorists' trying to 'sabotage' RAF Fairford:

One of the three vans stopped next to the air base yesterday had suspicious lettering on the side which appeared to be fake, the woman farmer who alerted the authorities said.

She said she noticed 'immediately' that the phone number and lettering on one of the vehicles did not look right.

Some observers suggested the 'Fuel 2You' branding could have been a grim joke about the contents of the vans, which were allegedly packed with explosives.

Really? The real grim joke is that these guys could have been stealing fuel (Fuel2You - geddit?) to sell down the pub and the explosives could be used to gain access to fuel tanks to drain. If indeed there were any explosives. Who knows as the whole thing seems like a joke.

It has since been noted that the phone number displayed beneath the company name – 0742 418 2599 – was spaced in a format predominantly used in Iran.

Really? Brazil and the Phillipines use 4-3-4 formatting but according to AI, Iran does not:

No, Iranian telephone numbers do not follow a 4-3-4 format. Instead, they typically consist of a country code (+98), an area code (2-3 digits), and a subscriber number (7-8 digits), such as +98 21 12345678.

OK, but what about...

Others pointed out how it was odd to use a red logo for a business supplying fuel, when the colour of petrol pumps in the UK is green. In Iran, the colour is red.

Really? Petrol pumps are generally white not green, for example at Tesco supermarkets:

Worryingly, the farmer claimed she saw more 'Middle Eastern-looking' suspects fleeing the scene than the five men later arrested.

Middle-Eastern-looking 'suspects' - illegal immigrants from the Piddington asylum village perhaps as it's only a 1-hour drive away - or from anywhere in the Midlands which has plenty of Middle-Eastern looking people, many of whom play cricket.

The Mail even claims that the SAS were involved, talking up the supposed severity of the incident as the elite troops were scrambled out of their beds from Sterling Lines in Hereford to rappel down from a Blackhawk helicopter, Heckler-Kochs swinging.

The Mail have been having a field day with their conspiracy theories, it's beginning to sound a lot like the Skripals and their poisoned pizzas at a Salisbury restaurant.

Yulia Skripal was roused from her coma. Upon waking up, she communicated to an intensive care consultant that she and her father, the turncoat former Russian spy, Sergei, had been “sprayed” with an uncertain substance while dining at a restaurant, before their collapse — and not at their home, as claimed by the UK.

So much for the Novichok-coated doorknob. It was the pepperoni that did it!

But why did these 'terrorists' go to all that trouble with fake vans and explosives?

They could have just emulated Ukraine's Operation Spiderweb, dropped a few drones somewhere near the base and then piloted them remotely to blow something up from the comfort of their beds in their asylum hotel. Job done.
