UK inflation is set to ease back quicker than expected, the International Monetary Fund predicts.
Price rises will drop to 2% by mid-2027, the IMF said, meeting the Bank of England's target.

Loose potatoes have gone up from 125p per kilo in 2022 to 152p per kilo in 2025.
The average council tax rise across the UK for the year 2026-27 was 4.9%.
Electricity costs in the UK increased by approximately 20.12% since the beginning of 2026.
How do even these few facts square with 2% given that practically every UK household eats potatoes, and council tax and electricity are two of the biggest costs faced by UK households whether they rent or own.
And contrast this inflationary optimism to:
...there were strong words in the annual update from independent forecasters, the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR).
"The UK's public finances are currently in a challenging position relative to history and to other similar countries, with government debt having increased by one of the largest shares of GDP of any advanced economy over the past two decades," it said.
And the UK isn't even subject to any sanctions or dependent on cheap energy from Russia.
