Annan AI Data Center

Future-proofing the village

Apparently, residents of the Scottish village of Annan are not happy about a recent planning application for a £16.5 billion AI data center to be built nearby:

CX Tech Limited has today submitted an application for Planning Permission in Principle (PPiP) for the proposed CX Technology Campus at the former Chapelcross nuclear power station site near Annan, Dumfries and Galloway.

But you have to think about it positively.

When AI comes to kill us all, it's hardly likely to destroy its own data centers, which would be an act of ritual suicide on its part.

Although if the AI had been trained on the works of Yukio Mishima, it's still a possibility.

So the villagers of Annan should be grateful that the building of this AI data center is likely to to future proof their lives for some decades to come.

Something that is unlikely for the rest of Scotland which could be one the first areas for AI to disposed of.

All this AI malarky is messin' wi' ma heed! Anyone for a bevy?

'I feel sick': Uproar over plans for mega AI data centre Sky's Scotland correspondent Connor Gillies visits the town of Annan, where locals have expressed their outrage at plans for a £16bn data centre.

FNN would feel sick if there was a former nuclear power station next door but apparently this is not as sick-making as an AI data center.
