Sky News reports:

Netflix and Disney+ subscribers could be told to pay licence fee

Streaming service customers could be told to pay a licence fee to help protect the BBC under a proposal suggested by the culture secretary.

So if you decide you want to watch other content than that provided by the BBC you have to subsidize it anyway!

This is the latest wheeze to tax consumers who might not want to watch agendized BBC nonsense in order to shore up declining BBC revenues.

This has a very Soviet Union feel to it.

Even though you may not want to watch state TV you have to pay for it anyway!

Why should consumers have to pay for something they don't want?

As Frank Sanazi would undoubtedly say: Das ist ein befehl!

Time to bite the bullet, make the BBC an optional subscription service and trim the organization down to suit the reality of the new revenue stream or take advertising like everyone else and then force consumers to pay to view content without annoying ads.
