Sky News reports:
Jimmy Rushton [no relation to Willy] , the special correspondent for the Kyiv Independent and a security expert, said that Vladimir Putin looked at US envoy Steve Witkoff and saw "a very desperate and weak man".
He told our presenter Leah Boleto that instead of acting like a "representative of the most powerful and richest country in the world", Witkoff was "more like some form of Dickensian urchin begging for scraps of food."
Mr Rushton has obviously been overdosing on Oliver Twist - a Ukrainian delicacy made of fried lard and olives.
FNN has noticed that Sky News is including much more humour and comedy in its news stories, especially those about Ukraine.
There's somebody else who is a lot more like a Dickensian urchin begging for food and leading a gang of pickpockets but let's not go there.
Witkoff's memories comment has obviously touched a nerve:
They're viewed as far too slanted towards Moscow and I think they're also viewed as very naive. They don't really understand the Russians and neither of them are Russia experts. They don't speak Russian. They've never really understood this part of the world, and they've been taken for a ride repeatedly by Moscow.
The lyrics of The Way We Were seem appropriate here:
Can it be that it was all so simple then?
Or has time rewritten every line?
If we had the chance to do it all again
Tell me, would we? Could we?
The outcry is about Witkoff behaving like a human being when meeting with someone who is considered to be the Bill Sykes of Europe accompanied by his pitbull Lavrov (or Medvedev if you prefer).
After a memorable visit to Moscow, the desperate and weak US negotiators are being taken on another ride.
This time on the 'Peace Express' to visit a debtors prison in Ukraine and to discuss Zelensky's great expectations.
There's been a lot of comment about these negotiations being full of sound and fury signifying nothing (quick switch to Shake-a-spear as Scary Movie would call it).
But people forget.
These desperate and weak US negotiators, compiling misty-eyed memories for their multi-million dollar book-deal memoirs, really don't really care.
No-one is being killed in the USA and no missiles are landing on Amazon warehouses, so they can keep up this shuttle diplomacy forever until either Ukraine is destroyed and depopulated or Germany launches Operation Barbarossa 2.0 against those Russian untermenschen, whichever comes first.
