Sky News reports:
Poll suggests Britons would not volunteer to fight off an 'imminent' invasion
Exclusive polling by YouGov has found only 6% of people in the UK would volunteer to fight for the country in the face of an "imminent" invasion.
Probably the reason why this is only 6% is because nobody really believes the UK is threatened by an imminent invasion.
From whom: China, Russia, North Korea, Iran, Argentina?
Although there were genuine scares in the past from France, Scotland, Spain and Germany in WW2, the UK hasn't been successfully invaded since the Normans overwhelmed the English 'Saxons' in 1066 at Hastings.
This just looks like another lame way to talk up the Russian 'threat' and merely shows that most people think that this is nonsense.
Putin is far too busy in Ukraine to invade the UK and when the Ukraine war does end, FNN doubts if Russia wants to start another one by invading the UK - given that the UK is neither on its borders nor threatening its Russian-speaking population with intimidation, kidnap and murder as was the case in Ukraine.
This is just more 'threat' fodder for armchair generals in Wiltshire and Sky 'analysts' to chew on.
